Collection: Coffee Blends

Blending has a bad reputation, and half of that reputation is deserved.

It gets used two ways. The first is to bury faults — take a cheap, defective lot, mix it with something inoffensive, roast it dark enough that nobody can tell. That's most of what's sold as "blend" on a supermarket shelf, and it's why the word makes some people flinch.

The second way is the reason espresso exists at all. No single farm produces a coffee that does everything: the one with the body lacks the acidity, the one with the fruit falls apart under milk, the one that's perfect in a pour-over disappears in a latte. Blending is how you build a cup that no individual origin could give you on its own.

Every blend here is the second kind. Same specialty-grade beans as our single origins — combined on purpose, and roasted the day you order.

Blends by region

These keep origin character rather than smoothing it away. African Espresso and African Kahawa lean bright, floral and fruited. Latin American goes nutty with a cocoa finish. Asian Plateau is heavy-bodied and earthy in the way only Indonesian and Southeast Asian coffee is. Kopi Safari is blended after roasting rather than before, which keeps each component distinct instead of averaging them together.

Everyday blends

House Blend and Breakfast Blend are the ones to keep on the counter — smooth, unfussy, and forgiving of a distracted morning. Blonde is a genuinely light roast, sweeter and more acidic than most people expect. Gourmet Donut Shop is the light-medium classic, and despite the name there's no flavouring in it.

Dark blends

Where the roast does the talking. Cowboy mixes dark and medium beans in the same bag. French Roast is smoky with the sweetness intact. 6 Bean takes six origins dark for espresso. Italian Roast Robusta adds body, crema and caffeine. Italian Roast Deep Dive is extra dark and oily, with origin character deliberately roasted out.

All five also live in Dark Roast Coffee, arranged lightest to darkest if you want to compare them properly.

Built for caffeine

Breakfast Blend + and Max Caf both use Robusta, which carries roughly twice the caffeine of Arabica. More in High Caffeine Coffee.
