Most "extra strong" coffee on the market is cheap Robusta hidden under a dark roast. Robusta carries roughly twice the caffeine of Arabica, so it's an easy way to make a bold claim — and an easy way to make coffee that tastes flat and rubbery.

We use Robusta too. The difference is what we blend it with.

Max Caf starts with Tanzanian arabica — cardamom, brown sugar, genuinely complex — and adds Indian Robusta for the kick. Breakfast Blend + is our smooth South American breakfast blend with Robusta folded in, so you get the extra caffeine without changing the coffee you already liked. Italian Roast Robusta is our darkest roast, taken slowly so it lands intense rather than burnt, with Robusta adding body and crema on top of the caffeine.
