Roast: Medium | Cup: Chocolate, toffee, floral | Built for: Cold brew and nitro
The cold brew for people who find most cold brew a bit one-note.
Dark roast cold brew is the standard, and there's good reason for it — deep, low-acid, forgiving. But it flattens everything into "coffee flavour," and once you've had a few you've had them all.
This is the medium roast alternative. Chocolate and toffee through the body, and a floral top note that survives the long cold steep and gives you something to actually notice. More complex in the glass, and considerably more interesting over ice.
It's also our nitro recommendation. Nitrogen adds a creamy texture and a cascading pour, which flatters a coffee with some delicacy to it. Put a heavy dark roast through nitro and you mostly get texture; put this through and you get texture and flavour.
How to brew it
One part coffee to eight parts cold water, steeped 12–24 hours, strained. Dilute the concentrate to taste. Choose the Coarse grind — the other options are here because the bag comes in four grinds, but fine grounds and a twelve-hour steep make a bitter, silty cup.
Want deep and roasty instead? Cold Brew Dark French is the other half of the pair.
Pairs with: a long summer evening and something you're in no rush to finish.
